Full Description

DESCRIPTION Forge Homes are delighted to offer for sale this extended two double bedroom character cottage on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford. This beautiful extended home has been meticulously cared by the current owners and offers a perfect mix of period features and modern additions.

Stansted Road is a beautifully presented, extended and modernised two double bedroom end terrace home within a stones throw of Bishop's Stortford. The current vendors have remodelled the property and upgraded to a fantastic standard, notably adding a ground floor extension with an additional reception room and ground floor shower room. The accommodation is arranged over two floors and opens with an entrance hall leading to the downstairs sitting room, a modernised kitchen, dining room and ground floor shower room. There is a homely feel throughout the property and has evidently been thoroughly loved.

On the first floor the property benefits from two double bedrooms and a further shower room. The principle bedroom overlooks the properties private front garden with views further into the distance overlooking Birchanger Woods. Both the second bedroom and family bathroom boast beautiful views of the properties rear garden, filled with natural greenery, trees and shrubbery.

The front of the property boasts a good-sized private rear garden and pathway leading to the front door. Other homeowners on the road have converted this to a driveway to provide additional parking, but on-road parking outside is already easily available.

To the rear, the current owners have created a hidden nature sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Bishop's Stortford life. The rear garden is around 120ft in length and has been sectioned to offer a selection of areas. There is a raised decking area accessed via the dining rooms double doors, perfect for hosting friends and family. There is a fire pit / sitting area, ideal for soaking up the sun and also a storage area at the end.

Bishop's Stortford is an historic market town lying beside the River Stort, offering a range of shopping, educational, recreational facilities and amenities including The Bishop's Stortford College, golf club, swimming pool, hospital, cinema, health and fitness club, theatre groups, restaurants, garages etc. Bishop's Stortford is an area with outstanding transport links including the M11 (J8) and mainline train services to London Liverpool Street (approx. 46 mins) and Stansted Airport (approx. 8 mins).

Surrounded by countryside, yet only a mile from rail and road connections to the North and South, Stansted Road offers the ideal location. The area also boasts some of the best schools in the county, including the renowned Bishop's Stortford College, St. Edmunds, Herts and Essex and Boys High, making it an excellent location for families and those with children.

OWNERS COMMENTS "So take yourself back in time to 1996 when I was searching for a home at the age of...well nevermind lol...this was the 5th house I looked at and, as it turned out, my favorite. Had you been there, you migh've asked yourself why as it was bright yellow inside and out; it had no heating or hot water; and the only toilet was outside. From the moment I walked in and around the property it had a special feel to it, like a haven away from it all, warm and inviting. That feeling has never changed and in fact we've just added more love and warmth to it like we have to each other.

Obviously it has heating, from radiators and a modern, multi-fuel stove, hot water from a modern combi boiler and up-to-date electrics and gas with a smart meter. We've poured love into this house from redoing both bathrooms, decorating every room, laying new floors, putting in a new composite multi-level deck and many other things that reflect the love we have for each other and this house and garden.

You may ask yourself why we're moving if we love it so much; well if we could take this house and garden with us, we would, but we can't, so why are we moving? We're hikers, full stop. Mountain bikers. We love wildlife(as in bears, wolves, and eagles)...We love mountains and hills and caves to explore! So in the 7-8 years that we've been together here, we've exhausted this area of those things to do, so we're off to other adventures.

We hope you, the new owner/s, will love the peace and tranquillity that the house and garden offer, no matter what the weather, as much as we have. May you feel the warmth and love this house offers from the moment you walk through the door."
